ORIGIN AND VARIETIES


It is an original fruit of Central America. Brazil is possibly the biggest producer followed by Colombia, Venezuela and the whole Central America. Also there takes place in Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, south of Africa and Australia. The European market receives in addition to the fruits species, yellow, residence and passionflower, a big variety of hybrids. Brazil produces the following varieties: Ouropretano, Muico, Peroba, Painting and the Hawaina. Australia has developed resistant hybrids, between others, Redland Triangular. In Hawaii there is the variety Noél Especial, whose fruits can weigh up to 90 grams; yellow rind and dark, very juicy orange pulp.
